Parents for Children's Mental Health - Open House

Parents for Children’s Mental Health Ontario would like to announce that a local Sarnia Parents for Children’s Mental Health Chapter will soon be launching to offer peer-to-peer support for families in the Sarnia area. The Parents for Children’s Mental Health Chapter is being established after recognizing a need for added supports for families who are raising children with mental health issues in the Sarnia area.  The Sarnia Chapter will be led by advocate, Jennifer McCann.

The Sarnia Parents for Children’s Mental Health Chapter will be working collaboratively with St. Clair Child & Youth Services and the Lambton Family Advisory Committee.

The chapter will be hosting an open house on Thursday, May 10th – 7:00 PM at St. Clair Child & Youth Services - 129 Kendall St., Point Edward.

Parents for Children’s Mental Health offers chapters across the Province to provide support groups, and peer to peer assistance with finding resources and navigating the children’s mental health system.

The Parents for Children’s Mental Health pillars are support, educate and empower:

Support for families facing the challenges of child and youth mental health disorders/illness.  We provide timely, accurate, concrete and appropriate information.  We provide compassionate guidance.  We offer peer to peer support, connecting families with lived-experience.

Education by promoting public understanding of children and youth mental health disorders/illness and respect for families who are facing the unique challenges of raising and caring for children and youth with mental health disorders/illnesses.

Empower by building strong support groups, networks, and partnerships to inform, educate, and mobilize families to raise their voice in public and with government, to advocate for child and youth mental health services that are family-centred and seamlessly delivered.
